Red stoneware, thrown on the potter's wheel and detailed by hand. I painted this mug with porcelain slip, then hand carved the etched pattern that showcases the color of the raw clay underneath. I glazed the bowl with care, to preserve the contrast between the porcelain stripes and the deep red clay.
